Rumba macumba candombe bambula X4 Canta en la calle Quemar el monton! Para Aguanile. Dar tu corazon. Viva mas! Encontras Tu forma Y baile mas.x4 See from here The mountains rising Clear, clear, clear with the rhythms of our ancestors drumming in our ears. Telling us to walk the line, find our time. Our spirits will walk with us for a lifetime. Feel the heat! On our feet! And dance! To our tribal beat. Rumba macumba candombe bambula X4 Let me sing you a songoro A pretty ditty decima called La Bambula Or maybe it's quimbara quimbara cumba Quimbamba Or maybe I'm thinking of ese como-se-llama Cosongoro A tune as tasty as mofongoro Rumba macumba candombe Bambula! X4 Let me clear my throat! When the world was young And laughter falling free Her hands reached out Like palma giving trees In those days Few songs were sung. But like ripe fruit Them tunes they hung. Grown from the ground. We ate those sounds. And they nourished us All around! X4 El corazón es un rio profundo, es una vena tejida en este mundo en parentesco con todos los que respiran las bestias y aves y peces sostienen y inspiran Que amemos lo digno y lo fecundo! Defienda nuestra Madre! Rumba macumba candombe Bambula! X4 Rumba, macumba, candombe, bámbula! X4 YA!

You can’t take my coquito away! You can’t take my coquito away! You can’t take my coquito away! You can’t take my coquito away! Your small hands reach in for the grab To take over a drink you can’t have My coquito has history Of our land For our people Hard for you to understand There’s no equal You bark from the grandstand There’s no equal You’ll never understand You can’t take my coquito away! You can’t take my coquito away! You can’t take my coquito away! You can’t take my coquito away! Coconut, condensed, and evaporated milk Cream of coconut and RUM, RUM, RUM! Mix in cinnamon With vanilla extract Blend it with passion No two are ever alike And you’ll never get it son This ain’t no Orange Julius! Take a listen: You can’t take my coquito away! You can’t take my coquito away! You can’t take my coquito away! You can’t take my coquito away! There are many coquito creation stories Here’s one Back in 1898 Puerto Rico became a territory Of the US of A It was said that US soldiers Shared a milky drink with eggs and rum. Upon tasting it, the islanders said, “Ay Dios mio! Que es esso?! No, no, NO!” The Puerto Ricans reinvented it With local ingredients: Cream of coconut, coconut milk, Condensed milk, cinnamon, And some of the best rum in the world. Coquito was born! As with all myths there are disagreements: No eggs vs. eggs Nutmeg vs. cinnamon Cooking vs. blending Independent vs. colo-mmonweath 51st vs. sovereign free associated state But I implore you, my compays Let us not fall into despair There are many that would like to Capitalize on our special elixir. Our passion! And discard us Once they’ve mastered The recipe. I say pa’lante Pa’lante!...with coquito! If you’ll fight with me And you want to know What it tastes like This lovely coquito Sing! You can’t take my coquito away! You can’t take my coquito away! You can’t take my coquito away! You can’t take my coquito away!

Mofongo maduros mangú y tostones El pan nuestro va de mi plato al suyo In this season of giving gracias Time of lechón and side dishes Baked pavo, roast pernil, fried fishes We're grateful for the abundancias And share with our gente despite all distancias Their struggle in our corazones Actions supporting our oraciones What little we have lo compartimos Once all have eaten, nos unimos Mofongo maduros mangú y tostones Mofongo maduros mangú y tostones El pan nuestro va de mi plato al suyo (2×) God's children struggling por la vida Beyond a century of el pan nuestro One people's encounter is another's secuestro Yet they made gold from platanos y carne molida But today are denied water y comida Let us share instead the sweet sustenance of maduro Your rice, our beans, a sofrito con orgullo As we trade recipes beyond fronteras And raise each other up instead of banderas El pan nuestro va de mi plato al suyo Mofongo maduros mangú y tostones El pan nuestro va de mi plato al suyo (2×)

about

This album is in honor of people of Puerto Rico - donde vive nuestro corazón. On September 20th, Puerto Rico was hit with a category 4 hurricane crippling its power grid, depriving people of food and water, and decimating the land. Most Puerto Ricans living on the island will be dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Maria for quite some time. This is our small way of helping.

ALL PROCEEDS FROM SALES OF THIS ALBUM WILL GO TO ConPRmetidos, where 100% of donations will be used exclusively to provide long-term relief to the victims of Hurricane María in Puerto Rico. www.conprmetidos.org
